What is a debit block and why should I check with my bank?
Debit Block
Some banks place a debit block on customer bank accounts. This is done on behalf of the customers to prevent unauthorized debits to their accounts. If the account you provided for an INtax payment has a debit block, the payment will be returned to us unpaid by your bank. A returned payment will result in a liability notice issued by the department which will include penalty and interest.
What you should do
Contact your bank representative and advise them that you will be initiating a tax payment that will be presented to your account as an ACH debit. Tell them you want to verify that you do not have a debit block on your account and that you want to ensure the transaction will be honored and not returned by them unpaid. Some banks will ask customers for a 10 digit bank ID from the entity presenting the debit.
If you need the department's 10 digit bank ID for ACH purposes, contact the EFT Section by calling 317-232-5500.

How can I locate the correct routing number to enter on the EFT registration screen?
Do not use the routing number from a deposit slip. Use the routing number from a check or verify with
your bank what routing number should be used for debit payments.
You can find the routing number within a string of numbers at the bottom of your checks. Make sure you are using a check and not a deposit slip, since the numbers may not be the same. For example, the routing number for a checking account might be 074100000, but the deposit slip routing number begins with 500. The first nine digits from the left(in between the special characters) on your check is the routing number. Routing numbers are always nine digits.

Why does it say "fakepath" when I try to upload a file?

being displayed by substituting "fakepath" as a placeholder.
